Minutes of the MW meeting 2 of August 2000

Agenda
1. Administration issues.
Kris has set up the permissions on the AFS directory so that all members of the MW team
(except Marc - get AFS account Marc !) have got all permissions to:
/afs/cern.ch/eng/PSSL_Convergence/middleware
Kris was delayed in the web site creation by problems with the web server web4. (Latest
news: I created a new site, which is fortunately on web3 and I can work now adding all the
design papers, presentations and minutes. This site is at http://proj-cmw.web.cern.ch/proj-cmw/ An
alias with the previous name will be added as well.)
2. Development status
CORBA - based development.
The API has been slightly modified to separate out group operations and replies.
The support for grouping will be in the API but grouping itself will be moved out to the
user code. Nikolai will put the JavaDoc of the API on the AFS MW directory. Nikolai stated
that he is on schedule but there can be some unforeseen problems with ORBexpress or C++.
MoM -based subscription.
Francois is using Francesco's API and this is working fine. Also Stephane is using this
API to make tests and he has got an example Java application running.
Public API
Vito is in discussion with Nikolai to resolve some minor issues. Otherwise stable.
Naming and configuration.
I has been asked that the server name resolution is handled first and the configuration
issues later on. Kris will develop this part.
AOB
The two Linux machines for development and testbed have been installed. Marc will
distribute the details about their hostnames and MW account.
