Present: Alessandro, Jens, Kris (minutes), Marc, Nikolai, Steen, Vito
We have a slight delay for the validating prototype (D3) for which the planned date is 30 of August. Some polemic arised as we always referred to "end of summer" and when does the summer end ;-) Minutes of the last week and the following progress report show where we are.
For the milestone M5 which is the final selection of products we maintain end of October. For the MoM we have to start the evaluation process begin of October after the visit of Progress (25 & 26 Sept.). We have to investigate whether for this kind of product a formal tendering is necessary (action: Marc).
Vito has raised the question of using an alternative CORBA product on Windows. He is interested to know whether Orbix, which he will get bundled with the EJB product, can be used instead of ORBacus. It has been agreed that this question is not urgent and it should not intervene in the MW delivery for the end of the year.
The first version is available, with simulated devices. Steen will connect to CORBA protocol when Nikolai completes his work on LynxOS.
Client and server implementations are available in Java. Alessandro is testing exception handling in C++ on LynxOS. Nikolai has written test clients and server in Java. All is available on our AFS directory.
Nikolai suggests that everybody starts to use this software by:
At the same time Alessandro is preparing ground for Nikolai on LynxOS by testing exceptions mechanism and working on the Data/DataEntry classes.
The current name server which is used by Nikolai is the operational OmniOrb name server of the CDEV implementation. He will try to configure the ORBacus name server and install it on the MW Linux machine.
Francois is away to assist at Stephane's presentation of his work at CERN. He is ready to do performance tests of the MoM. To finish the MoM agent he needs the public API to subscribe to the resource tier. We remind that the prototype is restricted to permanent subscriptions between the MoM Agent and the resource tier as the mechanism to implement temporary subscriptions has not been decided yet.
Vito has to do integration with the ORB code (RDA) which will be done in two stages:
Vito has also to generate JavaDoc for the public API.
Jens can go ahead with using Server Framework.
We had a meeting on this subject on Tuesday. See minutes.
