Objectives
==========
-  Finalize the organization of the CERN SL/CO Controls Workshop
   on Middleware technologies
-  Discuss how to involve F.Bouche from COMPAQ in the Middleware
   project

AGENDA
======

1. Time distribution for each subject of the Middleware workshop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was agreed the following time allocation:

(i) Introduction:                       10 min.

(ii) OO Middlewares
      - CORBA:                          25 min.
      - (D)COM + comparison with CORBA: 20 min.
      - RMI:                            20 min.

(iii) Other Middleware Families
      - MOMs, RTWorks, ...              25 min.
      - IBus                            10 min.

(iv) Accelerator Device Model & API     20 min.

(v)  OPC                                15 min.

(vi) Criteria to consider for choosing  10 min.
     a Middleware

(vii) Conclusions                        5 min.

                               TOTAL OF: 2h.30min.

+ 15 min. of coffee break after the OO Middleware presentations

2. Review of the Abstract for the Workshop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We all agree on the general content of the abstract written by Kris.
We made some minor modification.

3. Discussion about the content of the each presentation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was agreed that each presentation should provide the same
kind of information.
The following list resumes the main arguments to be treated:
        1) Support for OO Model
        2) Availability (plaforms)
        3) Location Services (Naming/...)
        4) Support and mechanism for the publish/subscribe paradigm
        5) Transaction support
        6) Support for Components (Java Beans/ActiveX/...)
        7) Error Reporting
        8)Specific Services

Vito proposes a draft for the template.

4. ACTIONS

- Kris will send to the core team the updated abstract for the workshop
- Check (again) the distribution list of SL/CO seminar : Franck, Kris
