Minutes of MW MoM meeting 27 of JunePresent: Alessandro, Marc, Francois, Francesco, Vito, Kris and Stefan- Comments to the Previous minutes: - Softwired will come on Friday 30 June aroud 10h. Marc will make sure that the latest tests are sent to them and organise a small meeting before to discuss the agenda. - Stefan, The IUT student just arrived. Francois will organise his work. - Continuation of MoM tests After the discussion round with IBUS we will spend summer on further tests with the MW prototype. Talarian has been contacted for the state of work on JMS API. No decision on product selection will be taken before autumn. Francesco said that there is no worry of selecting a product because we have been using it for tests. The API's are really compatible. This is not the same for features such as wild cards in topic name. - Relation Of MW project to the LHC Data Interchange Working Group (LDIWG). Marc reported that at the last Controls Board it has been proposed that the Middleware Project provides the transport solution for LDIWG. This proposition is related to our efforts of seeking a common solution with ST. It is planned that the MW project will make a presentation to the Controls Board in September. The decision about Phase II of LDIWG will be postponed until then. The final report of LDIWG (Phase I) is to be published soon. - Collaboration with ST. This is "second priority" at the present time and this activity should not delay the delivery of the MW prototype. Nevertheless we have to keep the speed for the collaboration and profit from the resources which can be envolved at ST. Kris will organise a meeting with them on Tuesday in 2 weeks time. On the Agenda: ST naming space and use of naming services, public and private API's, our strategy of integrating MoMs. Proposed time 9h. - MoM integration. Francois and Vito came to the conclusion that the API proposed by Nikolai can be used as "private MoM API" as well. They will continue on this track. Francesco explained on a sequence diagram how JMS is used together with JNDI to establish a session with the broker and publish or subscribe on a subject. He also made a simple pub/sub interface which is using both JMS and JNDI. This could evolve to the official MW interface for pub/sub. It has been requested to compare the cost of using predefined topic objects with JNDI to the cost of making a default mapping from device/property name and creating topic objects on-the-fly. Vito distributed the Rose drawings with class and sequence diagrams for the public MW API. He is asking for rapid comments. -- ------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Kris Kostro | Tel: +41 22 767 5437 CERN SL/CO Controls Group | Fax: +41 22 767 5800 CH-1211 Geneva 23 | GSM: +41 79 201 4124 Switzerland | mailto:Kris.Kostro@cern.ch ------------------------------------------------------------- |
