Present: Kris (minutes), Nikolai, Steen, Slavek, Jens, Francesco
The action list has been presented by Kris (see minutes from previous meeting) and reviewed:
nanosleep: no progress. After meeting Kris enquired Alastair concerning this. It may be connected with fix to clock precision done by CES which does not work on some machines. There is a new 3.1 version from CES which has not been tried less. Alastair will contact Nicolas when he is back.
C++ clients PVSS integration: Slavek delivered all the necessary libraries to ST and they were trying to access PS servers. The access to PS test servers did not work and Slavek has set up a local RDA server for tests. Nicolai said that this is not a good approach as RDA test server is for RDA internal tests only. The reason of access problem has to be investigated. After the meeting Kris contacted Pep to see what is the status of this work: Pep made some programs to access the local server and he now understands hoe to subscribe. Currently he is busy with another driver for 2 weeks and estimates the development of PVSS driver to RDA with 1 week to have a first prototype. The Linux machine which he is using for tests has more than one interface which may be the source of the problem.
API for Motif applications: Michel and Slavek discussed together. A meeting is foreseen next week. Nikolai and Kris insisted that the problem should be seen as whole with a proper design work.
TCP socket buffer size: No reply from CERN Windows services (Ivan Deloose) Check with Nicolas d M-N and Alastair about increase of send buffer. Another possibility is a modification in ORBacus code.
RDA port on Windows: On the server side one more iteration between Jens and Nikolai necessary. The client port has been partly done but not tested.
Logging: There was a meeting on this on Sep. 20. The agreement is that:
For LynxOS it is also foreseen to use the approach of BI to log to a common local server in each DSC. In this case a logger implementation would use this approach.
The logging page for the prototype done by Roland has been added to the CMW web. under development.
Distribution of timing data via CMW: An agreement has been reached between Kris, Steen, Michel, J-C Bau and Julian but this was later contested by Franck. Franck is afraid that we will run into trouble which was common with DTM in the past. Not yet clear what will happen.
Francesco made comment that LHC logging is being discussed and that JMS would be an appropriate vehicle for logging.
